A portrait is much more
than just a picture

I will capture the beauty and character of you and your loved ones at your home or favourite locations. With a personable, relaxed and friendly nature you will be able to enjoy having your photo taken. Through my creative, skillful and individual approach to photography and a unique style of artwork we can achieve whatever you want with a portrait.

I, Giles Webberley that is, have always had a passion and natural ability for photography since first picking up my dad's SLR camera as a child. At the age of 12 I was given my first proper camera of my own which encouraged me to learn about the skills and crafts involved.
When at college I was lured away from my photography into film making, eventually majoring in film lighting and camerawork for my BA(hons). Whilst continuing with my photography for pleasure I worked for about 4 years as a documentary cameraman on television productions. This training and work provided me with well honed skills in lighting and techniques along with the chance to develop my individual style of composition and approach. When I realised that my passion was still with photography I moved toward creating GWP to allow me to offer my skills at a fair price. I now offer a creative, relaxed and collaborative portraiture service, bringing my unique style and approach to the work I produce.

Excellence at a fair price

By talking with you we can not only build a rapport, and hopefully ease any worries you might have about the process, but we can also achieve whatever you want from the session. Through this we'll know whether we should base the session at your home, perhaps with the 'Home Studio' option, or even in your garden if it has particular significance to you. We might decide that a favourite walk, viewpoint or landmark would best reflect you and your interests or it might even be best to arrange to set-up in a location that tells a different story; from a bus station to your favourite bar if the owner is willing.
On the day of the session my relaxed and conversational way of working should make you at ease and feel an integral part of the process. I work well with subjects of all ages from babies to grandparents, and enjoy the opportunities and challenges the range of characters brings. What makes a portrait much more than just a picture is, not only the expertise that I bring but, the stylistic, reportage or classical approach we take to reflect your individual character in the portraits that I create. I bring a full professional photographic and lighting kit which gives great flexibility to the 'looks' that are achievable.

All prices include a private web gallery of your images with a secure debit / credit card payment system to buy extremely competitively priced prints of your favourites. I also hold an enhanced crb check and comprehensive public liability insurance to aid your sense of security.

Please Note: 50% deposit is payable at the time of booking with the remainder due on the day of booking. The time limits offered are as a guide to the duration I hope to take but I would always rather get 'the shot' than save an extra quarter of an hour or so at the expense of the collaborative atmosphere. Cancellations are possible up to a week before the booking but any expenses incurred will be deducted from the deposit before a refund can be authorised. Additional mileage is charged at 50p/p/m and any extra expenses will be charged.

a guide to artwork options

Creating unique pieces of art
from your session images

Introducing the creative ways I can produce interpretations of the original images produced at your session. I have developed these techniques as a way to create something truly individual that has a timeless decorative value that reflects the time we live in. It also offers those of us that feel uncomfortable with the idea of having a 'straight' photograph of ourselves on the wall a more artistic talking point especially tailored for your home or workplace.

Whilst the 'Graphical' and 'Style Block' methods are available on all paper and canvas print sizes the 'Triptyc' option is a special order which is only available on the 'Panoramic' sizes. The 'Graphical' option is available on any choice of your images but the 'Style Block' option is only available on photographs taken with the white 'Home Studio' option so mention when booking if you would like to produce these with your session images. The 'Triptyc' option requires a little consultation on the choice of images to put together and therefore requires a telephone conversation to arrange and pay for. Artwork on any pictures will cause a delay in dispatch of your prints due to the proofing process. First proofs should arrive within 14 days of order being placed and dispatch should occur within 14 days of final proof approval being received in writing, electronic or paper, by me.

Below is a little description, prices and examples of the options available. The prices quoted are an additional cost to be added to your choice of print type and size.
Simply move your mouse over the examples to see a 'before' version of the image on which the finished image is based.

Beautiful prints for a great price

I am strongly against the practise of charging an unrealistic price for a portrait session and then hard selling extortionately over priced prints to make up the losses. I remain committed to my fair pricing policy when selling prints and for these competitive prices you get professional basic retouching and digital 'hand-finishing' of all images to produce prints you can be proud of.
